EAST JAINTIA HILLS DISTRICT LEVEL INTER SCHOOL ATHLETICS MEET 2025, COMMENCES

The three days East Jaintia Hills District Level Inter School Athletics Meet 2025 organized by the Office of the District Sports Officer, East Jaintia Hills District in collaboration with the East Jaintia Hills District Sports Association (EJHDSA) commenced today the 30 th April, 2025 at Teilang Playground, Dkhiah West, East Jaintia Hills District.

The opening ceremony of the event was attended by Additional Deputy Commissioner, East Jaintia Hills District, Shri S.R Marak, Additional Superintendent of Police, East Jaintia Hills District, Shri S. Paslein as guests in the presence of District Sports Officer, East Jaintia Hills District, Smti. Stephanie M Rapsang, District Public Relations Officer, East Jaintia Hills District, Shri E.S War, School Principals, office bearers of various Sports Associations under East Jaintia Hills District, students and others.

The District Level Inter School Athletic Meet this year featured the participation of 23(Twenty-three) schools of East Jaintia Hills District with over 600 (Six hundred) Athletes competing in 42 events to be held in the course of the next three days.

During the opening ceremony, all flag bearers and athletes, led by renowned athlete of East Jaintia Hills District, Shri Rishanmeki Ryngkhlem, took a pledge to uphold the spirit of sportsmanship and fair play.

The inaugural day of the meet featured the enthusiastic participation of students who took part in different events including the Under-16 Years Boys and Under-18 Years Girls categories.

In Shot Put of the Under-16 Years Boys, Nightiful Sukhlain of Khliehriat Presbyterian Secondary School claimed the gold medal, Arwinki Rymbai of Wapung Higher Secondary School secured the silver medal while Mutskhem Sari from Sein Jait Tuber Higher Secondary School bagged the bronze medal. In the Under-18 Years Category, Vincent Chyrmang of Wapung Higher Secondary School won the gold medal followed by Ram Lyngdoh from Sein Jait Tuber Higher Secondary School and Edyson Dkhar from Sham Sham Secondary School who bagged the silver and bronze medals respectively. In the High Jump event of the Under-18 Years Boys Category, Kynsai Rymbai of K.B. Memorial Secondary School won the gold medal, Heimonmi Dkhar from San Shnong Secondary School and Daoshwa Dkhar from Wapung Higher Secondary School secured the silver and bronze medals respectively.

In the Long Jump event of the Under-18 Years Girls Category, Fancy Meliorate Siangshai from K.B Memorial Secondary School secured the gold medal, while Olivia Bareh from Ambrose Memorial Secondary School and Juh Phawa from Sein Raij Branch (Jalyah) secured the silver and bronze medals respectively. In the Javelin Throw event of the Under-18 years Girls, Eunikilalthangthari Ngamlai from Khliehriat Presbyterian Higher Secondary School won the gold medal while Sathi Phawa from San Shnong Secondary School and Tholinda Swer from Rymbai Government Secondary School were adjudged as the silver and bronze medal winners.
