Shillong, September 28, 2004: The 1st phase training for intensive revision of electoral rolls 2004 for enumerators and supervisors was held today at DRDA’s Hall, Williamnagar to impart first hand training on enumeration works.

Speaking briefly on the occasion, the Deputy Commissioner, East Garo Hills, Mr. E. P Kharbhih, urged upon the participants to take their work seriously and to work hard so as to achieve the desired goal. Further, he also warned them of serious consequence if found to be neglecting their duties.

Mr. Kharbhih also requested all villagers in the District to extend their cooperation to the Government agents for smooth conduct of the enumeration works.

Earlier, the EAC in-charge of election Mr. D. Shira elaborated briefly about the guidelines of the revision. Others who spoke on the subject were Mr. W. P. Marak, ADC Election and Mr. B. Hajong, District Planning Officer.

Shillong, September 28, 2004: Under Section 52 (1) of the MEE ACT, the Deputy Commissioner, East Khasi Hills District, Shillong has declared dry day on October 2, 2004 throughout out the District of East Khasi Hills on account of the birth anniversary of Mathma Gandhi.

All liquor shops, IMFL shops, bars, hotels, clubs, C.S shops, C.S. Bars, outstill shops shall remain closed on the said day.

Shillong, September 28, 2004: The Office of the Deputy Commissioner, Ri Bhoi District Nongpoh will carry out survey works etc on the land adjacent to the NH-37 from Khanapara to Jorabad (Meghalaya side) in connection with the acquisition of land for the proposed 4 laning of the highway. The survey would start from October 4, 2004 onwards. Therefore the land owners/persons interested are required to be present in their own respective plots with effect the above date,
