SALARY RELEASED

Shillong, September 21, 2004: The salaries of thirty (30) Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan (SSA) lower primary schools for six months has been released on 20th September, 2004 with effect from 1st March,2004 to 31st August 2004 at the rate of Rs.3000/- per month per school for two teachers at the rate of Rs.1500/- per teacher. This was informed by the Deputy Commissioner of Schools, Baghmara, Mr. K. E. Thomas.

The cheques are being issued to the respective secretaries of the above mentioned schools in South Garo Hills with effect from September 20, 2004.

Shillong, September 21, 2004: The Deputy Commissioner (Supply), East Khasi Hills District has informed that application are invited for fresh appointment of Government Nominees/Agents in Public Distribution System from interested/bonafied persons including the existing nominees/agents for the year 2005 for the Centres located at Nongthymmai-Laitkor, Madanryting-Umpling, Laitumkhrah, Malki, European Ward-Police Bazar, Laban-Lawsohtun, Cantonment Area, Mawprem-Lamavilla, Jaiaw-Mawkhar etc, Mawlai, Pynthorumkhrah-Polo, Upper Shillong-3rd Mile, 7th Mile (Sadew), Mylliem, Laitlyngkot, Pynursla, Mawryngkneng, Sohryngkham, Smit, Thangsning, Kynton-U-Mon, Mawngap, Mawmih, Sohiong, Tyrsad, Nongspung, Mawsynram, Lawbah.

HOME MINISTER VISITED BAGHMARA

Shillong, September 21, 2004: Meghalaya Home Minister, Mr. H.D.R. Lyngdoh, accompanied by the Additional DGP, Mr. W.R. Marbaniang, visited Baghmara on September 20, 2004.

Mr. Lyngdoh called a meeting in the Conference Hall of Baghmara Circuit House, with Police officials of South Garo Hills. While addressing the Police officials, Mr. Lyngdoh said that apart from their routine duty, the responsibility of South Garo Hills Police has increased and they now have more responsibilities than the other Districts. Mr. Lyngdoh urged them to remain vigilant of other anti-social elements in the District. He also stressed the need to maintain good public relations, to make the public confident in policemen and to maintain discipline in uniform. Further, the Minister assured to look into the problems of the police personnel.

Additional DGP, Mr. Marbaniang, while highlighting the move for modernization of the police force in the State, said that Border Management Headquarters would soon be set up at Baghmara with new weapons, necessary infrastructures, etc. Under the Border Areas Development Scheme, he also informed the officials about the new building for Baghmara Police Station, the construction of which would be started soon.

Earlier, Mr. L.B. Sangma, IG (Law and Order), welcomed the Home Minister, ADGP and other police officials to the meeting and Mr. M.S. War, SP, Baghmara, highlighted the problems of his office and staffs.

Later, the Minister also called a meeting with the officials of Agriculture, Horticulture, Irrigation and other Departments.
