Shillong, May 7, 2004: Meghalaya Minister for Excise and Irrigation, Mr. P T Sawkmie, today inaugurated the Basketball Court at St. Anne’s School, Mawtawar, Shillong. Also present at the inaugural function were the Parish Priest, Executive Members of the local Dorbar Shnong, teachers and school children.

Stating that Mawtawar have shown signs of all round development, Mr. Sawkmie, who is also the local MLA, said that the Catholic Church has always been in the forefront for the development of the locality. He thanked the Church for allowing construction of the Basketball Court in its school premises, for the benefit of the school children, the youth and the locality as a whole, and appealed to the public to maintain discipline while playing in the Court and respect the sanctity of the Church premises in which it was constructed.

For the development of the school, Mr. Sawkmie informed that the remaining sanction from the MLA Scheme, which amounts to Rs. 20,000, is still in the Block Office and urged the Managing Committee to use the money for the renovation of the school building.

Further, he urged the public to cooperate with him for the betterment and all round development of the locality and the constituency as a whole.

Others who spoke on the occasion included the Mawlai Parish Priest, Mr. V Mukhim, Headteacher and Mr. P Kharshyndon, President Catholic Youth wing. While Mr. S Lyngdoh, Church elder presided over the meeting, Mr. D Kharkongor, local Headman delivered the vote of thanks.

Shillong, May 7, 2004: The Principal of Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya, Nongstoin, has notified for general information that the date of examination for the Class IX, Latest Examination 2004 has been postponed and will be held on June 27, 2004 (Sunday) instead of May 23, 2004.
