Shillong, June 30, 2004: The District Social Forestry Division, Nongpoh today, organised the World Environment Day programme at Jirang Government Secondary School, Jirang where the Meghalaya Minister for taxation, Mr. J D Rymbai was the Chief Guest.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr Rymabi lauded the Department for organising such an important programme to remind and generate awareness among the people. He added that the environment is God’s gift to man, but for selfish reasons and greed, man has destroyed it. Citing the importance of the environment for the sustenance of life on earth, Mr Rymbai urged the people to preserve the environment as its preservation will benefit mankind.

Shillong, June 30, 2004: The Meghalaya Minister of State for Forest, Mr S. W. Rymbai inaugurated the newly constructed extension school building of Lumnongrim Diewlieh L. P. School on June 26, 2004.

Speaking on the occasion Mr. Rymbai urged the Managing Committee of the school to make proper use of the building. Stating that students are the future citizens of the country, he urged upon them to work hard and lead a well disciplined life.

Further, he also assured all possible assistance with regard to the memorandum submitted to him by the school’s Managing Committee for upgradation of the school.
