Press Release No 333/04 NEW OFFICE BEARERS ELECTED Shillong, June 1, 2004: In the elections of the Meghalaya Secretariat Services Association, Shillong held on May 26, 2004, Mr. F R Hynniewta of the Revenue Department has been elected as the President of the Association while Mr. Henrickson M. Arengh as the Vice President. Mrs. Verna Rosa Laloo of the Home (Passport) Department has been appointed as the General Secretary, Mr. S Syiemlieh of the Finance (Budget) Department as the Assistant Secretary, Mrs. Josephine Nongbet and Mr. Borbah Khongwir of the Revenue Department as the Joint Secretaries and Mr. F Kharkongor of the Secretariat Administration (Accounts) Department as the Treasurer. The Executive Members of the Association include Mrs. Grace C. Momin of the Revenue Department, Mr. Toplin Hynniewta of the Finance (AF) Department, Mr. I G Marbanaiang of the Finance (PR) Department, Mr. H C Nandi of the C&RD Department, Mr. Phikirsing Nongkynrih of the Finance (Budget) Department and Mr. Damash K Sangma of the General Administration (B) Department. |

Press Release No 334/04 CM CONDOLES DEATH OF JHADC’s CHAIRMAN Shillong, June 1, 2004: The Meghalaya Chief Minister, Dr D D Lapang condoled the death of Mr. T Tariang, Chairman of the Jaintia Hills Autonomous District Council, who passed away on May 30, 2004 due to prolonged illness. In a letter sent to Mrs. Ringmon Pyrtuh, wife of the late Chairman, Dr Lapang said that the death of Mr Tariang has left a void in JHADC, the Ummulong Moodymmai District Council Constituency and more so in the lives of his family. Dr Lapang hoped that God will be with the family in their time of grief and grant solace to the bereaved hearts. |

Press Release No 335/04 FOUNDATION STONE FOR DURBAR HALL CUM GUEST HOUSE UNVEILED Shillong, June 1, 2004: The Foundation Stone of the Durbar Hall cum Guest House of Pahamsyiem, Nongpoh was laid down today by the Deputy Commissioner, Ri Bhoi District, Mr W.L Lyngdoh. Speaking on the occasion, Mr Lyngdoh informed that the construction of the Hall, a two storied building, is expected to commence soon. The ground floor of the building would be used as a Durbar Hall while the 1st floor as the Guest House. Once completed, he expressed hope that people would make proper use of it. With a view to develop the District, Mr Lyngdoh informed that efforts are underway to promote tourism. He also said that the District Administration is looking for sites for the construction of a District Stadium and a Science Park. Regarding the Ri Bhoi Foundation Day on June 4, 2004, he sought the cooperation of the people to ensure that the celebration is a success. |
