MEETING FOR REVISION OF ELECTORAL ROLL HELD

Shillong, July 21, 2004: The District Election Officer, Ri Bhoi District, Nongpoh has informed that Revision of Electoral Rolls has been fixed from October 8 to November 19, 2004.

In this connection, a meeting was held at Nongpoh on July 19, 2004 and today at Umsning between the headmen and the District Election Officer, and the same will be held at Patharkhmah and Bhoirymbong on July 23rd and 26th respectively.

WORKSHOP ON INTENSIVE RICE PRODUCTION TECHNOLOGY

Shillong, July 21, 2004: The Agriculture Information Officer, Directorate of Agriculture, Meghalaya, Shillong has informed that Workshop on Intensive Rice production Technology will be held at D.I.E.T. Saiden, Nongpoh, on July 23, 2004.

The Meghalaya Minister for Agriculture, Mr. H D R Lyngdoh will grace the occasion as the Chief Guest and the Deputy Commissioner, Ri Bhoi District, Mr. W L Lyngdoh will be the Guest of Honour.

It may be mentioned that this workshop is being organized by the District Agriculture Officer, Ri Bhoi District, Nongpoh as part of the celebration of the International Year of Rice.

RI BHOI DEPUTY COMMISSIONER TAKE STOCK OF THE PROBLEMS OF THE PEOPLE

Shillong, July 21, 2004: The Deputy Commissioner Ri Bhoi District has informed the general public to immediately inform the respective BDO/Police station or the Deputy Commissioner in case of occurrence of any disaster cause by the incessant rain during the last few weeks so that necessary prevention measures and assistance’s could be rendered to them. Officials survey has also been arranged for the same to ascertain the situation.

He further warns the wholesalers /retailers, taking advantage of the situation by hiking the prices of essential commodities and if found stern action would be taken against them.

MYNKEN AND ST. MARY’S TO REPRESENT RI BHOI IN SUBROTO

Shillong, July 21, 2004: The District Level Subroto Cup Football Tournament, organized by the District Sports Office, Nongpoh, concluded yesterday at Kurkalang playground, Bhoirymbong, where Mynken Christian Secondary School Bhoirymbong defeated St. Paul’s School, Nongpoh in the under-17 category, while St. Mary’s Upper Primary School, Nongkhrah beat Mynken Christian Secondary School in the under-14 category, both through a tie-break.

Mr. W S P Shadap, Sordar of Raid Bhoirymbong, in his speech, lauded the District Sports Office, Nongpoh, for organizing the tournament in his area and congratulated the finalists and the winners. He also urged them to maintain the spirit of sportsmanship, so that they could bring laurels to the District in the State level.
