Shillong, August 19, 2004: The Deputy Director of Employment and Craftsmen Training has informed that the Coaching-cum-Guidance Centre for Scheduled Castes (SC) and Scheduled Tribes (ST) of the Directorate of Employment and Craftsmen Training, Shillong Meghalaya located at Hopkinson road, C/O Dr. (Mrs) S. Dkhar, Lower Lachumiere will conduct a Pre-Examination Training with effect from August 23 to September 2, 2004 for ST/SC candidates who have applied for the Central Police Organisation Sub-Inspector Examination 2004 by the Staff Selection Commission on September 5, 2004.

Shillong, August 19, 2004: The Deputy Commissioner, Ri Bhoi District, Nongpoh, in order to check the pollution emitted by the Pawan Ispat Industry at Byrnihat, which affects the environment of Don Bosco school and other adjacent areas, today held a meeting in his office chamber with representatives of the Social Action Committee, Byrnihat, the Pawan Ispat Industry, Member Secretary and officials of the Meghalaya Pollution Control Board.

During the meeting it was decided that the Pawan Ispat Industry has to provide technology systems to its factory for reducing pollution emitted by it in the form of sound, smoke and smell, construction of a boundary wall of 40 feet high and to plant trees all around its compound. Besides the meeting, a Vigilant Committee consisting of representatives of Don Bosco School, Headmen of the area and that of the Pawan Ispat Industry was formed to monitor the situation.
